Abstract
|
|
|
This study was intend to grasp the accurate clinical pictures of epileptics in Korea. 269 cases who were given the diagnosis of epilepsy and treated from Oct. 1974 to Mar 1977 at the neuropsychiatry department of Seoul Red´ Cross Hospital` were selected.
And those epileptic who, showed the evidence of such. as. brain injury, brain tumor, cerebral degenerative disease, endocrine disorders and other cerebral and systemic diseases which supposed to give´ influences to cerebral functioning were excluded ´from this study.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The incidence in males (61.7%) is, highly greater than in females (38.3%)
2. In the distribution of age of onset, it was 73.9%,% in the age group of between 11 and 25., years old.
3. As to the proportion of clinical types in the 269 cases of epileptics, it was revealed that grand mal seizure was 52.7%, focal motor seizure was 13.3%, psychomotor seizure was 9.3%, mixed types of centrencephaic and focal cerebral seizure was 5.91%.
4. In the proportion of frequencies of seizures, the highest proportion in I to 4 times per monthly (27. 1%).
5. In all of the cases the proportion of abnormal E.E.G. findings was 62.8%.
